Scotch is whisky that must be produced in Scotland from a combination of malted barley and other cereal grains. It much be aged in cask for a minimum of 3 years in an approved warehouse. The country has 5 recognized geographical regions of production which vary in overall style: The Highlands, The Lowlands, Speyside, Cambeltown, and Islay.
Five categories of Scotch are produced: Single Malt, Single Grain, Blended Malt, Blended Grain, and Blended Scotch.
