Irish Whiskey is a spirit produced from a mash of fermented grains. It is often compared to Scotch in terms of production techniques and their resulting flavors. Although there are certain similarities, Irish whiskey is unique in its use of unmalted and unpeated barley as well as being traditionally triple distilled. These factors combine to create a product that is overall lighter than scotch with a distinctive "leathery" quality.
