During the Mexican-American War (1846-1848), a handful of brave Irish soldiers volunteered to support the Mexican people against the aggression of the American military, forming Saint Patrick's Brigade. During the course of the war, these soldiers fought valiantly, but in the end fell to the American troops. Some 50 men were executed by the US Army (in violation of international law), and it is in their name that Irlandes is created.
Legend has it that the last man to be executed blessed himself with holy water he carried from a well near his home - this same well provides the water used to make Irlandes Tequilas, carried from Ireland. Irlandes uses Champagne yeast to fermet the roasted Agave, giving a natural creaminess to the final spirit, and these are certified "No Additives" tequilas - no dashes of vanilla or spices here!
